ANAMA reveals number of mines and UXOs detected from September 27 until now

The Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA) is implementing mine and unexploded ordnance (UXO) clearance operations in Aghdam, Fizuli, Jabrayil, Zangilan, Gubadli, Tartar regions and Shusha city, ANAMA told APA.

Clearance operations of Barda-Aghdam, Fuzuli (Horadiz)-Zangilan (Aghband) railways, automobile roads, which will pass through Fuzuli-Shusha, Sugovushan-Talish-Tapgaragoyunlu directions, territories, through which high voltage electricity lines to Fuzuli-Shusha, Aghdam and Sugovushan village of Terter district will pass, sowing territories in Aghdam, Gubadli və Zangilan districts continue.

Mine and unexploded ordnance clearance operations are conducted with the support of manual demining, mechanical demining machines, and mine detecting dogs.

Since September 27, 2020, during mine and UXO clearance operations 16,586,032 sq.m. (1,586 ha) area was inspected, 9,584 pieces of anti-personnel and anti-tank mines, 7,081 unexploded ordnances were detected and demolished.

The Agency once again emphasizes that the liberated areas are contaminated with mines, unexploded ordnances, explosive devices, and explosive remnants of war, and for security reasons, entry of civilians into these areas without special permission is prohibited.
