Population of Azerbaijan increased by 0.9% last year

The population of Azerbaijan increasing by 85651 people or 0.9% amounted to 10067108 on January 1, 2020, State Statistics Committee told APA.

52.8% of the population is urban residents, 47.2% is rural residents, 49.9% is male, 50.1% is female.

At the beginning of the current year, 4.6% of the population live in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, 22.8% in Baku, 20.3% in Aran, 12.9% in Ganja-Gazakh, 9.4% in Lankaran, 30.0% in other economic regions.

A number of people per square meter has been 116 and this indicator has been higher in Baku (1072), Lankaran (172), Absheron (155) regions in comparison with the country level.
