North Korea has reportedly notified regional football officials it will sit out World Cup 2022 qualifiers held next month over coronavirus fears, APA reports citing BBC.
Matches across Asia to qualify for Qatar were already postponed from March until June. The usual home-and-away format has also scrapped in favour of groups playing within a singular host country due to safety concerns.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is asking the country to reconsider the decision, according to South Korean officials.
