There is a need for dialogue, cooperation, in particular, for intra-Islamic dialogue in the world, said Mubariz Gurbanli, Chairman of the State Committee of Azerbaijan for Work with Religious Organizations.

He made the remarks at a conference on the theme “freedom of speech and religious communities”, co-organized in Baku by the State Committee, Press Council and religious community of the Mashadi Dadash mosque, APA reports.

The committee chairman recalled that several important events were held in Azerbaijan within the framework of the Year of Islamic Solidarity.

He noted that a decision was taken at the last international conference in Baku to create a coordinating council that will bring together representatives of the State Committee, the Caucasian Muslims Office, as well as religious figures from various countries.

“The process, titled “Intercultural and Interfaith Dialogue”, will be established within this framework. In some parts of the world, radical groups are being created, which, using religion for their own ends, commit terrible acts. There is a need for dialogue, cooperation, in particular, for intra-Islamic dialogue in the world,” added Gurbanli.
