“European Union has worked and will continue to work to preserve the nuclear deal with Iran,” High Representative of the EU Federica Mogherini said at the meeting of UN Security Council, ONA reports referring to the official website of the EU.
Mogherini added that Iran realized its nuclear-related commitments what has been confirmed in fourteen consecutive reports of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
According to the EU high-ranking official, the lifting of nuclear-related sanctions is an essential part of the deal with Iran, as well and the EU will continue working to preserve the economic dividends of sanctions-lifting. “This is a contribution of the European Union and I'd like to thank France, Germany and the UK, to our collective security, this is also a way to prevent nuclear proliferation, particularly relevant in an extremely tense region,” Mogherini added.
However, there are serious issues related to Iran’s behaviour on other matters including ballistic missiles, human rights and regional dynamics that EU worries, Mogherini said. “But with no nuclear deal in place, any discussion with Iran would be much more difficult, not easier. Dismantling a deal that works will never be a good starting point to advance our collective security interests,” the EU official emphasized.
