The implementation of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev's Order on pardoning a number of convicted persons on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev, has started, APA reports.
The Order is executed in penitentiary institutions.
According to the Order, 801 convicts were pardoned, of which 463 persons were released from imprisonment, 220 persons were released from the unserved half of the imprisonment sentence, 118 persons were released from other punishments not related to deprivation of liberty (restriction of liberty, correctional works, fines and persons sentenced to conditional sentences).
This is the largest act of amnesty adopted in the history of the independent Republic of Azerbaijan according to the circle of the persons to whom the order applies.
