“As reported, preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated by the Main Investigation Department of the State Security Committee as a result of anti-terror operation held on December 13, 2020, on disarmed members of Armenian armed groups illegally crossing the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan illegally, taking up positions in a forested area in the northwestern part of Hadrut settlement of Khojavend region after the declaration of ceasefire with a trilateral statement signed on November 10, 2020, between Azerbaijan, Russia, and Armenia, has been completed, it is noted on joint press information of SSS and General Prosecutor’s Office, APA reports citing the website of SSS.
It is noted that it has been known in the conducted investigation that a group of people consisting of the citizens of the Republic of Armenia has illegally acquired firearms, spare parts, ammunition, explosives, and devices, and created an armed group that is not considered by the legislation.
On November 26-27 of 2020, they have illegally passed from the border of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the form of an organized group, held the battle positions in forest and other areas in the north-western part of Hadrut settlement of Khojavend region, made an armed raid to the enterprises, departments, organizations located in the territory of Azerbaijan, as well as to the other individuals till December 13, 2020, and have committed explosion, fire and other terror acts which poses a threat of death, damage to human health, significant property damage and other socially dangerous consequences, in order to violate the public safety, to make a panic among the people, and to influence to the decision-making by the public authorities of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the international organization.
The public has been provided with the information that the investigation on 14 members of that armed groups has been completed and has been sent to the court with the approved indictment.
Currently, regarding the listed facts that other members of illegal armed forces – Hovanesyan Haykaz Koryunovich, Manukyan Varazdat Amushavanovich, Stepanyan David Stepanovich, Tosunyan Levam Ashotovich and others in general 13 accused persons with the articles of Azerbaijani Criminal labour 214.2.1, 214.2.3 (when terrorism is committed by a group of persons, an organized group or a criminal association (criminal organization) with the use of firearms and objects used as weapons), 228.3 (illegal acquisition, transfer, storage, transportation and carrying of weapons, their components, ammunition, explosives and devices by an organized group), 279.2 (assault on enterprises, departments, organizations or individuals as part of armed formations or groups not provided by law) and 318.2 (illegal crossing of the state border of the Azerbaijan Republic by a group of persons or a group of people who are allies in advance), the investigation of the criminal case against them was completed and sent to court for consideration together with the bill of indictment approved by Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The preliminary investigation of the relevant criminal cases against other accused persons who are member of the above mentioned armed group has been completed and reviewing on case material is underway.
